The Syracuse Orange dropped their second game in a row to the Duke blue devils Saturday night 66-60 after starting the season with a 25-0 record.

The first meeting between both schools went to overtime in which the orange came out the victors 91-89, in what was considered an instant classic. After coasting majority of the season, the orange have found it difficult to score as of recent. Prior to suffering their first loss of the season to Boston College, the orange barely escaped some of the games they played. Most noticeably was the game against Pittsburgh, in which freshman guard Tyler Ennis hit a mid-court shot to snatch the game from the panthers.

The orange may lose their number one ranking, but they’re obviously a lock for a high seed in the conference tournament and the NCAA tournament. With just four games left against Maryland (15-12), Virginia (23-5),Georgia tech (13-14) and Florida State (15-11) on the season, it will be interesting to see how they bounce back from losing back-to-back games.

  1. It depends on how they do against UVA if they lose that No. 1 seed. I believe UVA has the better conference record. If they beat UVA they’re good and Cuse would then have the better conference record. If not…then they are going to have to settle for that No. 2 seed

    1. In the conference tournament I don’t think the seeding will matter much, except it dictates who you play. But in the tournament based on their recent form i’m not sure if they’ll be awarded one of the top seeds. I guess that will depend on how they finish the season

      1. All they have to do is win out to close the regular season. That conversation ends just like that. How they do in the conference tournament will honestly have no bearing on their NCAA seeding

      2. Right! Well they definitely need to win the conference tournament to at least get reconsidered

      3. Then again, the teams we least expect to succeed or struggle at the end of the season surprise us. Not saying that it’s a guarantee that Cuse could do it but if the NCAA bracket is set up right….
